Artist Statement

Forever I Love Atlanta: Westside Story is my love letter to a community that has shaped generations — including me. Through photography, storytelling, and collected memory, this project documents the beauty, complexity, resilience, and transformation of Atlanta’s historic Westside.​

For years, I have walked these streets not only as a photographer, but as a neighbor, volunteer, advocate, and witness. I have watched communities fight to preserve identity while navigating change. I have seen joy exist alongside struggle, history stand beside new development, and everyday people quietly carry the spirit of neighborhoods too often misunderstood by outsiders.​

This work is rooted in the belief that communities are more than buildings or headlines. 

The images in this exhibit are intended to serve as both documentation and invitation — documenting a moment in the evolving story of the Westside while inviting viewers to slow down, look deeper, and see the humanity, dignity, and legacy that have always existed here.​

As Atlanta prepares to welcome the world, Forever I Love Atlanta: Westside Story asks visitors and residents alike to experience the Westside not as a backdrop, but as a living, breathing community rich with culture, memory, creativity, and hope.

This exhibition is not simply about what is changing. It is about what must never be forgotten.
